vegan cheese – simple recipe!


Actually I don’t like vegan cheese. Because I still can remember the taste of cheese and vegan cheese doesn’t taste like real cheese. In the internet I found a lot of recipes of vegan cheese made of potatoes and carrots. I was very skeptical but also very curious. So I tried it. And what can I say?

It really tastes like cheese. Well at least a little bit. I was very surprised. I think the secret is the yeast flakes. They give this taste of cheese. I will definitely cook a lot of things with this vegan cheese. Maybe several casserole recipes or Mac and Cheese. Here is the cookingvideo. After this success I will try to make a chashew cheese. Did anyone of you tried this already? Or do you have any vegan cheese recommendations?


1 onion
1 tsp rapeseed oil
1 Cup potatoes
¼ Cup carrots
1 tsp mustard
1 tsp lemon juice
1/3 Cup rapeseed oil
¼ Cup cashew butter
2 tsp yeast flakes
salt, pepper


2-3 tbsp water


Peel and chop onion.  Put a saucepan on a medium heat and add 1 tsp oil. Add onion and let it cook for 2 minutes.

Peel and cut into pieces potatoes and carrots. Boil them until they are soft.

Blend all ingredients until smooth. Add water to get a more creamy texture. You can eat the cheese hot or cold.
